====== Ending condition ====== A condition for ending the game. There might be an explicitly stated **ending condition**, which, in games of competition, might lead to a win, a loss, or a draw. Other games might be open-ended, e.g. Geocaching. In games where players have different roles, there might exist different **ending conditions** for each role. **Ending conditions** may vary and they may be combined. Some suggestions are * the achievement of a goal score * the exhaustion of a limited resource, e.g. digital objects, maybe in multiplayer games with competition for limited resources * the exhaustion of available time, which could lead to temporal structure in the game * the elimination of opponents from the game * the locating of a digital object * other of events The **ending condition** might be known to players, in which case it is their final game goal. Awareness of the **ending condition** leads to the formulation of strategies. ---- ===Related patterns=== competition player goals ---- === Related heuristics === en:heuristics:heuristics#2.8 en:heuristics:heuristics#2.9 en:heuristics:heuristics#3.7 ---- === Backlinks ===
