Competition
This pattern is about competition between players or teams of players. Competition might be used as a strong pattern or weak pattern.
It might be implemented between single players, or between teams of players or a mix of the two.
Competition as a weak pattern allows players to decide whether and how to compete during the game on the basis of some strategy they have devised. The possibility of competition or cooperation might also be just implied by the use of another pattern such as the balance cooperation and competition pattern or any of the interaction between players patterns.
Example
In a simple and effective form, competition could take the archetypical form of a race. Two or more competitors, who might be teams, try to reach the same location (commonly used in street games). The race pattern could be accompanied by player roles (e.g. cops and robbers).
Competition is related with the achievement of a specific goal, like meeting the ending condition first, or achieving highest score first.
