Ο Ν.Μ. Αβούρης γεννήθηκε στη Ζάκυνθο (1956).
Είναι Kαθηγητής με γνωστικό αντικείμενο τεχνολογία λογισμικού με έμφαση στην επικοινωνία ανθρώπου-υπολογιστή.

Ερευνητικά ενδιαφέροντα. Τεχνολογίας λογισμικού, με έμφαση στην Επικοινωνία Ανθρώπου-Υπολογιστή, μεθοδολογίες σχεδιασμού διεπιφανειών ανθρώπου-υπολογιστή, Τεχνητή Νοημοσύνη, Έμπειρα Συστήματα, Κατανεμημένα Ευφυή Συστήματα, Τεχνικές Αυτόματης Εκμάθησης (Machine Learning) και στην εφαρμογή των τεχνικών αυτών σε σύνθετα προβλήματα στον τομέα της Συνεργατικής Μάθησης, του Περιβάλλοντος, της Εκπαίδευσης και Βιομηχανίας. Είναι υπεύθυνος τηςΕρευνητικής Ομάδας Αλληλεπίδρασης Ανθρώπου-Υπολογιστή .

ΣπουδέςΕίναι διπλωματούχος της Σχολής Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών του Εθνικού Μετσόβιου Πολυτεχνείου. Και έχει Μάστερς και Διδακτορικό από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Μάντσεστερ, Mεγ. Βρετανίας (University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology UMIST).

Επαγγελματική Εμπειρία. Έχει υπερ-20ετή ακαδημαϊκή και ερευνητική πείρα. Έχει εργαστεί σαν ερευνητής στο Παν. Μάντσεστερ (1983-1984). 1985-1986: Eπίκουρος καθηγητής στο Tμήμα Πληροφορικής του TEI Aθηνών. 1986-1993: Ερευνητής στο Κοινό Ερευνητικό Κέντρο (Joint Research Centre JRC) της Επιτροπής Eυρωπαϊκών Kοινοτήτων, Iσπρα Iταλίας, Iνστιτούτο Mηχανικής Συστημάτων και Πληροφορικής (Institute of Systems Engineering and Informatics) και στο Ινστιτούτο Περιβάλλοντος, Τμήμα Περιβαλλοντικής Πληροφορικής. 1993-1994: Mηχανικός υπολογιστών του Eθνικού Kέντρου Kατανομής Φορτίου της Δημοσίας Eπιχείρησης Hλεκτρισμού (ΔEH), Aθήνα, Αναπληρωτής Καθηγητής Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών (1994-2001), Καθηγητής (2001- ). Δημοσιεύσεις: Έχει επιμεληθεί την έκδοση 4 βιβλίων και είναι συγγραφέας πάνω από 40 άρθρων σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά και βιβλία και πάνω από 100 τεχνικών εκθέσεων, διδακτικών σημειώσεων, παρουσιάσεων σε επιστημονικά συνέδρια κλπ.
